Guidelines for Oral Presentations

Registration

Every speaker must be registered for the conference.

Time for Presentations

Please check the programme for your presentation. Your talk is scheduled for 12 minutes plus 3 minutes for questions and change of speaker. Keynote speakers have 25 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. Please rehearse your presentation to make sure that you stay within the allotted time.

Presentation Format

Only presentations using MS Powerpoint format (.ppt or .pptx) or Adobe PDF format (.pdf) can be displayed. If you use other programs to generate your slides please convert them to the appropriate format and test the appearance on a Windows computer.

Meeting Room Equipment

The meeting room will be equipped with one video projector, a screen, and one Windows computer for the presentation. To avoid compatibility problems and loss of time, only this computer can be used. Please do not try to use your own computer/tablet for the presentation. Please bring your presentation on a USB key or drive. If your animations cannot be embedded in your presentation make sure that you bring them as well. Presentations should be uploaded at the front desk after your registration, the day before your presentation, or at latest during the break before the presentation. Suggestions for Oral PresentationS

Use sans-serif 16 to 20 point fonts for text or numbers. Use heavy line thickness for graphics. Content: Use short clear text. Remember that people cannot read and listen at the same time. Show information piece by piece, build to the conclusion and use simple diagrams. Plan on at most one slide for each minute of talk.

Recommendations for Invited Keynote Speakers

Keynote speakers should give a short overview of past and current research before presenting their own research. Please emphasize the major research achievements and breakthroughs, and present the main challenges and perspectives for the future.

Guidelines for Poster Presentations

Registration

At least one author of a poster must be registered for the conference.

Poster Size and Mounting

The poster size is A0 portrait (width x height = 84 cm x 119 cm). We will provide removable poster strips for mounting the posters on the display panels. Please only use these strips and no other adhesive tapes! Please place your poster at the display panel that corresponds to your poster number, which can be found in the conference programme. The location of your poster panel is shown on the site map.

Poster Session Format

All posters will be on display, if possible, during the whole week. If the number of posters is too large, half of the posters will be on display from Monday to Wednesday, and the other half from Wednesday to Friday. There will be four poster sessions. Each poster is assigned to one of these sessions (see conference programme). Please make sure that at least one author of a poster is present at the poster board during the corresponding session. Posters have to removed no later than Friday 23 June 2023 at 13:00.

Suggestions for Poster Formatting

Keep the poster simple and use large fonts and clear graphics. Make sure your poster has a logical flow. Do not try to overload the poster with text and small images. Do not try to tell the entire story on the panel. Save some key points for the one-on-one discussion.
